Terrence J and Elior Championing Healthy Eating at HBCU Campuses

Terrence Jenkins, widely recognized as Terrence J, has become a driving force in promoting healthy eating habits at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) where Elior Collegiate Dining manages food service. Through a dynamic partnership with Elior, a leading provider of dining services, Terrence J is making a meaningful impact on student wellness and culinary education.

Touring HBCU Campuses Managed by Elior Collegiate Dining

Terrence J’s commitment to health and education is highlighted in his recent tour of several HBCU campuses. At Bowie State University, a meet and greet with chefs featured recipes from October’s Eat to Beat Inflation wellness campaign, that celebrated student-inspired dishes and smart, budget-friendly eating.  While speaker panels that explored entrepreneurship, the entertainment industry, and the journey to becoming a wellness brand ambassador were also held at Miles College, Morris College, LeMoyne-Owen College and Savannah State University.

At each of these institutions, Elior ensures students have access to nutritious meals and innovative food programs. The partnership between Terrence J and Elior is designed to raise awareness about the importance of healthy eating and empower students to make informed choices about their diets.

Culinary Competition at Albany State

Terrence J and Elior took their mission a step further by sponsoring a culinary competition at Albany State University. This event was more than just a contest—it was an opportunity for students to:

  • Explore fresh ingredients
  • Learn how to create healthier, delicious meals
  • Develop practical cooking skills
  • Engage with nutrition experts and culinary professionals

The competition inspired participants to rethink traditional recipes, focusing on fresh, wholesome ingredients and balanced nutrition. Students were encouraged to showcase their creativity, demonstrating how healthy eating can be both enjoyable and accessible.

BeWell Wellness

By bringing attention to healthy eating habits, Terrence J and Elior are also helping to shape a culture of wellness at HBCU campuses. BeWell, Elior’s behavior-based platform, offers a variety of nutritious solutions that meet people where they are at and helps them in achieving their personal health and wellness goals.

The partnership also highlights the importance of community engagement and student involvement in campus initiatives. By collaborating with dining services and student organizations, Terrence J and Elior are fostering an environment where healthy living is celebrated and supported.

Looking Ahead

The success of the culinary competition at Albany State is just one example of how Terrence J and Elior are making a difference. As their partnership continues, students at HBCUs where Elior manages dining services, can look forward to more events, educational programs, and opportunities to learn about nutrition and wellness.

Together, Terrence J and Elior are empowering the next generation of leaders to embrace healthy eating and make positive choices—on campus and beyond.
